About the tour

Mount Ararat Standard

This expedition is for everyone who wants to get well acclimatized before reaching the Mount Ararat. Trekking to Ararat takes 5 days (including reserve day). Reaching 1 and 2 camp should not be a problem for active people, especially those who hike in the mountains regularly. The summit attack can take from 8 to 14 hours (counting also descending to the first camp) – depends on physical condition of whole group.

“Mount Ararat standard tour” is a great option for those who have never been on the 5000 meters peak. It is good to check your abilities on that height, because there is no technical difficulties. This tour is for you if you are active person and you are ready for several hours long trekkings and several hours of summit attack (1000 meters going up and 2000 meters going down). Expedition requires average physical condition – the mountain is not very difficult. To the camps we go without heavy load because the luggages are carried by horses. During our stay in Dogubayazit we will visit beautiful Ishak Pasha Palace. At all our tour to Mount Ararat we plan the reserve day – in case of bad weather conditions. If that day is not used at the mountains, there is time (1 day) for some additional excursions.

Plan

1st Day – Arrival in Igdir*

Reception of participants from the airport in Igdir, drive to Dogubayazit; overnight in hotel in Dogubayazit.

2nd Day – Trekking to the first camp

We eat breakfast in hotel and than we load our all equipments to our minibus and we drive to Cevirme village or Eli village at 2200 m. There we stop and the luggages are loaded for the horses. We take our lunch-boxes and we start trekking to the 1. camp at 3350 m. Our trekking takes about 4-5 hours. In the 1. camp we drink tea and eat some sweets and we rest and wait for the dinner. Dinner in the camp. Overnight in the tents.

3rd Day – Acclimatization Day

We eat breakfast at the 1. camp. We take lunch pockets and we trek up to 3800-4100 m and we back. Our trekking takes about 4 hours. In the 1. camp we drink tea and eat some sweets and we restand wait for the dinner. Dinner in the camp. Overnight in the tents.

4th Day – Trekking to the second camp

We eat breakfast and after it we prepare our luggages and take our tents. The luggages are load for the horses. We take our lunch-boxes and we start trekking to the 2. camp at 4100 m. Our trekking takes about 4-5 hours. In the 2. camp we drink tea and eat some sweets and we rest and wait for the dinner. Dinner in the camp. Overnight in the tents.

5th Day – Trekking to summit

We wake up at 1.00 and eat something. If weather is okey we start (about 2.00 o’clock) trekking in dark to the summit. We reach the summit of Ararat (5137 m amsl) after 4-7 hours. We back to 4100 meters for little break and we eat something. After that we prepare our luggages and take our tents. The luggages are load for the horses. We go down to the 1. camp. In the 1. camp we rest and wait for the dinner. Dinner in the camp. Overnight in the tents.

6th Day – Descent from Mt.Ararat

We eat breakfast in 1. camp. Descent to Cevirme or Eli village. Drive to hotel in Dogubayazit. Overnight in hotel.

7th Day – Reserve day

This day is reserve day in the case of the bad weather in the summit day. In case of good weather we make a cultural tour in the surroundings of Mt. Ararat (Ishak Pasha Palace, kurdish Museum).

8th Day – Flight home*

Transfer to the airport in Igdir.

*Flights are without the presence of ARARATTREK team.
